Comcast's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Xfinity Communities has joined the Fiber Broadband Association (formerly the FTTH Council Americas) as a Premier Member.
"Since launching in 2014, Xfinity Communities has grown like wildfire due to growing demand from both prospective residents and building owners across the country," said Heather Burnett Gold, CEO and president of the Fiber Broadband Association. "As a Premier member, Xfinity Communities brings with it excitement and momentum to the industry that is crucial to building consensus around the important issues that will impact fibers' future."
"At Xfinity Communities, we know there are many paths to delivering gigabit speeds. We have built our Advanced Communities Network to deliver gigabit speeds to all residents whether it's through the launch of DOCSIS 3.1, fiber to the community, or fiber to the unit deployments," said Mike Slovin, Xfinity Communities VP of sales and marketing. "Comcast continues to be a market leader in residential and commercial broadband services, and this leadership and success has been built upon more than 20 years of network investment, including creating one of the largest fiber networks in the country. The FBA has done wonderful work in helping to advocate for our industry, and we look forward to a fruitful relationship in the coming years."
