Portugal-based service provider NOS has deployed Concurrent's (NASDAQ:CCUR) Aquari software-defined storage solution to enable cloud-based DVR services related to its new UMA personalized TV service.

UMA is NOS' latest multiscreen video service offering, which features intelligent voice controls, personalized recommendations, consumer-driven video recording of broadcast programs, and cross-device video streaming to TV sets and Internet connected devices. The new service pairs Aquari's scale-out storage capabilities with Concurrent's Upshift content delivery solution to support high-capacity video recording and streaming. Concurrent's solution is integrated with software developed by NOS to support business management, content management, and consumer-facing user interfaces.

Aquari storage is based on open-source Ceph, which features exabyte scaling and simultaneous support for multiple workloads. Aquari is designed to scale performance and capacity independently. The Aquari solution at NOS was sold through Satcab, Concurrent's partner and system integrator for the Iberian peninsula and Africa.

Concurrent will be showcasing the Aquari storage solution at the IBC show in Amsterdam.

Portugal-based NOS serves more than 4 million mobile phone, 1.5 million TV, 1.5 million fixed telephone and 1.1 million fixed broadband Internet customers.
