According to the Dell'Oro Group, the wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) market grew 10% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2014, reaching a new record revenue level of $2.6 billion. DWDM long-haul equipment revenue grew 18% year-over-year, and WDM metro equipment revenue grew 4% year-over-year.
The research house says the market has grown for 18 consecutive quarters, 12 of which involved double-digit growth. Dell'Oro attributes much of the growth to 100 Gbps long-haul fiber applications.
