TelVue's B1000 HyperCaster IP Broadcast Server is designed to provide IP origination for up to 20 independent digital broadcast channels supporting local origination (LO), leased access (LA), PEG channels and longform advertising. It's also designed for workflow improvement and labor cost reductions in typical LO/LA operations when the B1000 is used in conjunction with the TelVue Connect cloud-based Broadcast Content Management System.TelVue President and CEO Jesse Lerman told BTR that the B1000 and TelVue Connect are together intended to change LO/LA and PEG channels from a burden on cable operators to a profit center. The system is designed to replace the typical mishmash of legacy ingest and playout gear that requires multiple touches with an all-IP system that's simpler for both operators and contributors.The B1000 supports CableLabs MPEG-2 Transport with both MPEG-2 and H.264 encoded video files in standard or HD formats, including ATSC. Its native IP over GigE interface integrates with copper or fiber IP network architectures. The 1 RU server features dual power supplies and a solid-state hard drive for the operating system and SATA2 RAID for content storage, as well as a full suite of scheduling and content management. Each server can originate one to 20 channels in SD or HD formats in both MPEG-2 and H.264. It also enables simultaneous broadcast of live streams and IP-to-file capture for archival and re-broadcast and interoperates with digital ad-insertion and EBIF-based interactive TV applications.
