Videotron is deploying an UltraHD set-top box across its entire service area, and says it's the first telecommunications provider in Canada to do so. The new set-top is intended to enable Videotron customers who have UlraHD TV sets to view content in UHD format when the service launches by summer's end.
The illico 4K UHD set-top box, which is made by Samsung, also supports HD and SD video. The processor is 12 times the speed of an illico TV new generation set-top box and is designed to navigate four times faster, record eight shows simultaneously, and store up to 320 hours of HD content or up to 115 hours of UltraHD content.
