Thousands of new customers connect to each cable network daily. It is never safe in any of these cases to assume that the drop and the customer's existing inside cable, splitters, and connectors will operate problem free. They must be properly tested. One way to ensure this is done for every home or business installation is to implement a certification program. Certification is the process of verifying measurements against specifications and fixing anomalies before handing services over to a customer. In this installment of Best Practices, Tom Gorman, industry veteran, former SCTE Chairman, and founder/president of opXL, LLC., suggests components for a good home certification program that, if followed, will improve installations and reduce service calls. This Best Practices installment is brought to you by Trilithic. Return to the Best Practices: Home Certification home page.
