Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) announced a partnership with Earth Networks to use its WeatherBug Home optimization software to help Xfinity Home customers reduce energy use and costs.

WeatherBug Home will provide the data and analytics for Comcast's smart home energy saving tool - EcoSaver - which is designed to learn the heating and cooling patterns of a home and make automatic, incremental adjustments to the thermostat.

Earth Networks processes 25 terabytes of local, real-time, weather data daily for 20 million consumers. Research indicates that weather is the biggest driver of home energy usage. Earth Networks says its WeatherBug Home provide 16.5 percent savings on home cooling when its capabilities integrate with a connected thermostat.
