Evolution Digital has unveiled its operator-customizable eMERGE app-based video software client for multiscreen devices. Based on the company's eVUE-TV, eMERGE is designed to integrate pay TV operators' IP video services, including live linear, video on demand (VOD), pay-per-view and network DVR recordings, with OTT streaming content on a single user interface (UI).
eMERGE is designed to let operators modify and customize categories, campaigns and featured content, and also to upgrade their UI and experience with trick play features like catchup and start-over viewing. It also features deep linking and universal search. eMERGE is available on operator-managed set-top boxes as well as retail devices including Roku, Apple TV, iOS and Android mobile. More compatible devices will begin rolling out in the coming months.
"eMERGE is designed to empower operators to add creativity and innovation to the look and feel of their customers' viewing experience," said Brent Smith, chief strategy officer at Evolution Digital. "Most user interface options in the marketplace today limit the operator's ability to tailor the user experience to meet the specific needs of its subscribers. Evolution Digital's eMERGE breaks this paradigm by enabling dynamic UI changes to incorporate new and compelling content from multiple sources, which is critical in the ever-changing world of video."
eMERGE features a pay-as-you-grow model and is designed to work with the company's eVUE-TV video management and delivery platform. The app-based software client is also designed to provide a path for universal browse, dynamic ad insertion, non-traditional video sources, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
