Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. (New York City) signed three separate agreements to provide dark fiber-optic telecommunications networks in the New York metropolitan area. Allegiance Telecom Inc. (Dallas, TX) signed a 10-year lease for access to multiple singlemode fiber strands along Metromedia?s New York City network. Other contracts included providing a major carrier with multiple fibers covering four different routes in the metropolitan area, and providing building-to-building connectivity from New York City to suburban New Jersey for a major financial institution. All three contracts have a combined value of $11.7 million. Metromedia also signed a 15-year agreement to lease additional fiber-optic infrastructure to Intermedia Communications Inc. (Tampa, FL) for $10.8 million. Winstar Communications Inc. (New York City) also signed a 25-year agreement for fiber-optic infrastructure on Metromedia?s New York network for more than $40 million.
