In an effort to cut $50 million to $60 million in annual expenses, Cabletron Systems, Rochester, NH, has closed facilities in Nashua, NH, and Andover, MA. The company anticipates reducing the number of jobs by 600 in the next few months and closing and consolidating other facilities throughout the world. A provider of computer networking products, including systems for fiber networks, Cabletron anticipates a one-time pre-tax charge in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1998 of about $25 million to $30 million.
