Broadwing Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Broadwing Inc., announced a three-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with Whole Foods Market, a large natural and organic foods supermarket.

Broadwing is providing Whole Foods Market with a national data network connecting its more than 160 locations across the nation. The network is comprised of Broadwing's IP network. Whole Foods Market will be using Broadwing's services to transmit business-related information from all of its remote locations to its Austin, TX, headquarters.

"Broadwing's nationwide capacity, network reliability and competitive cost were significant factors influencing our choice of providers," said Douglas Korte, director of Whole Foods Market's technical services group. "Broadwing's leading SLAs [service level agreements], committed account team, and superior ongoing care and support placed them ahead of the competition."

Broadwing's (Cincinnati) IP network architecture serves multiple locations from a single originating hub. Customer's information runs over a world-class, all-optical, switched network, ensuring a fast, reliable, and flexible service. Broadwing's IP services are available as a network-based virtual private network (VPN) or a customer premise equipment-based VPN platform.
