MARCH 3, 2009 -- Industry analyst firm CIR (search Lightwave for CIR) will present a webinar on the 40- and 100-Gigabit Ethernet markets. The event will take place on Thursday, March 19 at 2:00 PM EST.

Persons interested in registering for the fee-based event may do so by visiting CIR's website at or by contacting the firm's sales department.

CIR says the webinar will address the questions of "when, where, and jow" for 40G and 100G Ethernet:

  • When will the first deployments of 40G and 100G Ethernet happen, when will the volume markets appear?
  • Where will the first deployment occur, which parts of the network will need 40G, and which parts will need 100G.?
  • Which variants will be deployed first and which will be deployed in the long term?
The webinar also will discuss each of the variants being proposed by the 802.3ba working group and the modules being developed to support them. Presenters will show the advantages and disadvantages of each variant and module.

Finally, CIR will share market predictions for which variants will succeed in the market and which will fail.

The webinar is an outgrowth of CIR's recent "40/100 GigE Markets: 2009-2013" report.
