JANUARY 8, 2009 -- Ballista Securities, operator of the new Ballista ATS for block options and delta neutral orders, will be using RCN Metro Optical Networks' (search for RCN) Ethernet network to connect to the major trading floors in New York and Chicago. RCN Metro Optical Networks is a division of RCN Corp.

Ballista Securities operates an alternative trading system for delta neutral transactions and block equity options trades. RCN says that Ballista's selection of a service provider was based in particular on service speed and reliability.

"At Ballista, we strive to provide our clients with the fastest, most efficient trading experience available," said Dr. Daniel Marques, CTO at Ballista. "Acquiring an additional, high-speed, fiber-optic based network solution from RCN Metro helps us to ensure optimal conditions for the market participants who trade on our platform".
