Elliot Scientific buys Martock Design

4 March 2003 -- UK distributor Elliot Scientific Ltd based in Harpenden has completed the acquisition of Martock Design Ltd.

4 March 2003 -- Elliot Scientific Ltd - a distributor of laser, fibre-optic, mechanical components, optics and cryogenic products in the UK based in Harpenden - has completed the acquisition of all the Issued Share Capital of Martock Design Ltd of Martock, Somerset, UK. Martock Design Ltd becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Elliot Scientific Ltd.

For the last 12 years it has been responsible for the worldwide sale and distribution of all Martock Design Products, marketed under the Elliot/Martock and Elliot Scientific banner. Since 1998, Elliot Scientific has manufactured all of the Martock product range under an exclusive manufacturing agreement.

"Martock Design have a number of patented products including the XYZ flexure stage and 20nm resolution mechanical adjusters, all essential for the key technologies in fibre and device positioning," said Elliot Scientific's managing director Mike Elliot. "The purchase of Martock Design allows us now to own the IPR for all the products that we manufacture. Over recent years we have been adding extensively to our range of fibre positioning, waveguide manipulation, automated fibre alignment and OEM products, this decision significantly strengthens our position in this arena."
