IPv6-native Internet backbone service provider Hurricane Electric has established a point of presence (PoP) in GlobeNet Fortaleza. The PoP is Hurricane Electric’s fourth in Brazil.
GlobeNet Fortaleza is located at 333 Rua Raimundo Esteves, Fortaleza CE 60182-330, less than six miles from the Fortaleza international airport. The new PoP, which came online in the third quarter of 2022, will triple the number of racks and power Hurricane Electric can make available. The PoP also provides access to protected submarine network routes across the Atlantic and guaranteed 99.99% uptime. Hurricane Electric will also be able to offer increased IP transit options to the capital of Ceará and to the customers doing business in the region, particularly the creative industry and retail, distribution, and manufacturing businesses. The region also is home to nearly 200 startups, the company says.
Hurricane Electric will offer these companies access to its IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 10GbE, and Gigabit Ethernet ports. “Fortaleza’s thriving economy and proximity to transatlantic cables make this PoP an excellent access point enabling Brazilian business to connect globally,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “Our fourth PoP in Brazil and fifth in South America continues our commitment to ensuring that users everywhere have access to high-speed connectivity.”
