On September 4, data center developer and operator fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty (1547) announced that it has acquired the Global Access Point Union Station Data Center and Carrier Hotel in South Bend, Indiana, in a partnership with the investment firm Harrison Street.
1547 CEO J. Todd Raymond said the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy of expanding offerings throughout the Midwest United States.
“Not only is South Bend a critical market for customers given its proximity to major Chicago data hubs and its growing, tech-driven economy, but the facility itself is deeply networked, making it ideal for businesses and enterprises with robust connectivity needs,” said Raymond in a press release.
Michael Borchetta, Managing Director of Transactions at Harrison Street, reported that the data center sits at the convergence of some of the largest national fiber paths.
“Union Station offers robust existing infrastructure that is well suited to address the needs of high-demand users in a region with limited existing supply,” said Borchetta in the same press release. “We are thrilled to further our partnership with 1547 with this acquisition and look forward to continuing to expand our data center footprint nationwide.”
