Corning Cable Systems GmbH & Co KG, part of Corning Inc.’s Telecommunications segment, will supply its passive optical solutions to Astanatelecom for the historic initiative to bring fiber to the home (FTTH) to the residents of Astana, the capital and second largest city of Kazakhstan.

Corning Cable Systems GmbH & Co KG, part of Corning Inc.’s Telecommunications segment, will supply its passive optical systems to Astanatelecom to bring fiber to the home (FTTH) to the residents of Astana, the capital and second largest city of Kazakhstan.

Astanatelecom plans to connect 1,000 single-family units in the growing city of Astana. Corning’s flexible, interchangeable Evolant Solutions for FTTx Networks help to make SFU deployments easier and faster with preterminated solutions, no-epoxy/no-polish connectors, and Corning’s bend-insensitive ClearCurve singlemode fiber.

“We're excited to have this opportunity to deploy Corning's top-quality, fiber-optic solutions for our new network,” says Abylai Seitzhanov, technical director of Astanatelecom. “This fiber-optic network will virtually 'future-proof' these communities, enabling them to access state-of-the-art broadband services.”

Corning's Evolant Solutions for FTTx Networks enable customers to deploy fiber in the last mile, says a spokesperson.
