AUGUST 6, 2008 -- Qwest Communications International Inc. has announced that it can now offer its FTTX-based Internet services -- with connection speeds of up to 20 Mbits/sec � to more than 1 million potential customers in 18 markets.
The milestone was reached as Qwest expands its fiber-to-the-neighborhood architecture.
The carrier's Qwest Connect Quantum and Qwest Connect Titanium Internet offerings deliver connection speeds of up to 20 and 12 Mbits/sec, respectively. Qwest plans to offer the FTTX technology to 1.8 million potential residential and small-business customers by year-end in 20 markets. The service are already available in selected areas in the following markets:
- Phoenix
- Tucson, Ariz.
- Denver
- Colorado Springs, Colo.
- Fort Collins, Colo.
- Boise, ID
- Des Moines, ID
- Minneapolis-St. Paul
- Omaha, Neb.
- Albuquerque
- Portland, OR
- Salem, OR
- Bend, OR
- Eugene, OR
- Salt Lake City
- Provo, UT
- Seattle
- Vancouver, WA
