JANUARY 22, 2009 -- Fiber-optic amenity company Connexion Technologies (search for Connexion Technologies) and Apex First Development are installing a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in The Villages of Apex, a mixed-use development in Apex, NC. The community was recently named 2008 Master-Planned Community of the Year by the North Carolina Home Builders Association.
"We're very excited for residents to experience FTTH-enabled services in the coming weeks," reports Mike Howington, co-owner of Apex First Development. "Our goal is to create communities that fit the needs of Triangle residents--now and for years to come. The Villages of Apex is better able to meet that goal by having a network that can support any application or service that comes to market," he says.
The Village's network will support an array of services, including ultra-high speed Internet connections, more than 200 digital channels of entertainment, and multi-function telephone service. The network will also include a digital community channel for posting news exclusive to the neighborhood such as clubhouse meetings, community events, restaurant information, and resident yard sales.
"The Villages of Apex channel will give residents access to all the latest community news, activities, and events," notes Howington. "This state of-the-art technology truly sets us apart from other developments in that homeowners will be able to stay connected to their community 24/7."
FTTH is not the only advanced technology available to residents in The Villages. As part of The Villages of Apex's Clean Vision Community, qualified homebuyers who purchase a home in Phase II will receive either a GEM e2 or e4 electric car, or two electric scooters compliments of Apex First Development. The electric cars are manufactured by Global Electric Motorcar, a Chrysler company, and the scooters are available through Great America Electric Bicycle Outlet.
