FEBRUARY 16, 2010 -- Enablence Technologies Inc., a supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for triple-play residential and business services and optical components and subsystems for access, metro, and long-haul markets, has achieved certified supplier status with Cablevision Argentina, its largest client to date in the Central American/Latin American market, to roll-out fibre-to-the-business (FTTB) services.
Cablevision Argentina is the nation’s largest cable television provider, with more than 3.2 million subscribers in 96 urban markets across the country. Through Fibertel brand, it provides high-speed Internet to businesses in Buenos Aires and other regions of Argentina.
Eager to respond to the growing bandwidth and Quality of Service demands of its commercial Fibertel customers, Cablevision Argentina embarked on a program to qualify and select a new platform for high-speed voice and data services that would allow it to deliver more bandwidth to larger commercial customers. After engaging in extensive trials with offerings from a number of competing vendors, Cablevision Argentina selected Enablence.
Enablence has provided equipment, services, and support as part of the deployment trials and expects to continue building on this base in coming years. Cablevision Argentina has selected Enablence’s flagship TRIDENT7 Universal Access Platform, Optical Line Terminals, Optical Networking Terminals, and the Element Management Suite. Initial expectations are for 500 to 1,000 FTTB subscribers to come online. This rate of adoption is expected to increase, after the TRIDENT7 has proven itself in the field and Cablevision deems it the ideal platform upon which to roll-out FTTH services, including data, voice and IP video, to residential subscribers in new Greenfield developments, according to a company representative.
