Light Brigade, the training and education division of AFL, says it will respond to the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic with the offer of FTTx Outside Plant Design and Certified Fiber to the Home Professional (CFHP) Remote Classroom courses. As the “Remote Classroom” designation implies, the courses will enable students to prepare for Fiber Broadband Association certification exams or otherwise extend their skill sets from their homes or offices.
The company says that FTTH Remote Classroom students will receive the same quality of education as delivered via typical in-person training sessions. However, the courses have been divided into smaller segments that range from half a day to less than two hours. Remote students can still complete full courses in less than a week, according to Light Brigade. The company adds its instructors will engage remote students with interactive exercises, whose questions will be answered in real-time by a technologist.
The FTTx OSP Design Remote Classroom debuts on August 10, 2020. The CFHP Remote Classroom starts on August 31, 2020. Both courses are enrolling students. Light Brigade also offers its "Fiber 1-2-3" course remotely (see "Students can now attend Light Brigade’s ‘Fiber Optics 1-2-3’ course remotely").
“With this ‘new normal,’ we are pleased to be able to bring more and more of our renowned training to our customers through live, remote classrooms,” explained Lee Kellett, general manager of Light Brigade. “These FTTx courses are particularly important with the demand for added bandwidth and broader coverage to meet today’s needs.”
