Fiber-optic triaxial camera extender

The Cobra fiber-optic interface interconnects triaxial-equipped cameras to their base stations using ultra-lightweight fiber-optic cable. The system uses plug-in "personality" modules specific to classes of popular cameras from a variety of manufacturers, including Ikegami, Philips, and Sony. It interfaces with standard and wideband digital camera families, as well as super slow-motion cameras. According to the manufacturer, the interface provides up to 10 times the range of conventional triaxial cable. The military-grade fiber-optic cables eliminate more than 98% of the cable weight of triaxial and paired cables. One quarter-inch (6 mm) OD tactical fiber cable contains four to six hair-thin fibers, each of which replaces either a 14-mm triaxial cable or a 64-pair audio cable.
