Digital transmission system

The Digital Viper fiber-optic system provides digital transmission for production environments including studio, transmitter, and outside broadcasting applications. The system carries 601 Serial Digital video, ntsc/pal analog video, audio, intercom, and control data over a single, lightweight fiber cable. It uses plug-in modules to mix and match multiple analog video signals with itu-r 601 serial digital video streams and send them as far as 30 km without repeaters. The system can be used for mobile and fixed applications and is housed in either the portable "Mussel Shell" enclosure or the 2RU 19-inch rack frame. Both units accommodate four video channels, eight audio channels (analog or aes/ebu), two channels of intercom, and up to four channels of high-speed data for machine or camera control, and send these signals over a rugged military fiber cable that is 6 mm in diameter.
