AUGUST 7, 2009 -- Clearfield Inc. (search Lightwave for Clearfield) has announced the addition of the FieldSmart Ribbon Break Out Box, designed to break out, manage, and protect high-fiber-count ribbon cables without adding to cost or installation time.

Clearfield says its FieldSmart Ribbon Break Out Box is a good choice when ribbon fiber counts exceed 144. Engineered to provide full protection for multi-fiber breakout of up to 864 fibers, the Break Out Box can serve as a transitional step to other Clearview Multiplied fiber management offerings.

"Ribbon fiber presents a set of cable management challenges not seen when working with loose-tube designs," explains Johnny Hill, chief operating officer for Clearfield. "The FieldSmart Ribbon Break Out Box provides a robust, intuitive, and repeatable way to break out high-count ribbon fiber consistent with our design methodology of reducing materials costs and service turn up time."

The Ribbon Break Out Box consists of a housing unit, transportation tubes, and cable clamps. It is available for ordering.
