NOVEMBER 16, 2007 -- Dura-Line Corp. (search for Dura-Line) has debuted PinPoint MicroDuct, locatable individual HDPE conduit (microduct) designed to be installed in new or existing 3/4-inch to 2-inch (27 to 60 mm) conduit for fiber-optic applications.

With the use of blowing equipment, Dura-Line says its new microduct is easily installed in occupied conduit systems with the benefit of being locatable and providing additional pathways. PinPoint MicroDuct is designed to enable quick rerouting of fiber optics and is able to be upgraded as new fiber-optic grades and types develop. Flexible and lightweight, PinPoint MicroDuct can also be direct buried or plowed via a small walk-behind drop plow, the company adds.

PinPoint MicroDuct is equipped with a PinPoint wire, which is encased in PE to provide a corrosion-resistant conductor. PinPoint MicroDuct is locatable at a wide range of frequencies. No special tools are required to couple the conduit and the PinPoint wire, the company says. A small rip cord is included to make accessing the PinPoint MicroDuct quick and easy.

PinPoint MicroDuct is available in standard (5/3.5, 7/5.5, 10/8, 12/10, and 12.7/10 mm) and custom lengths, with sequential markings in feet or meters. White, red, green, orange, blue, brown, gray, black, terracotta, yellow, and custom colors are available.

"PinPoint MicroDuct allows users to quickly and efficiently expand existing networks, while making an existing dielectric network locatable all in one step," said Tim Grimsley, vice president, telecom and CATV, sales and marketing, Dura-Line.
