Broadband services newcomer FastBridge Fiber has announced plans to build fiber to the home (FTTH) networks in Berks County, PA. The company, which is backed by Guggenheim Investments, plans to offer internet access at rates as high as 2 Gbps symmetrical.
Fastbridge Fiber says that it will begin FTTH construction this fall. It will offer customers symmetrical 500-Mbps, 1-Gbps, and 2-Gbps, with this last tier available for $95 a month. Subscribers at all three tiers can receive a managed whole-home mesh WiFi service for an additional $10 monthly fee. Fastbridge expects to begin offering these services this year.
The company also will offer transport, dark fiber, and point-to-point services to businesses.
"FastBridge Fiber serves a powerful purpose; enriching the communities in which we serve by connecting people. We are excited to provide a brand-new, very fast, fiber internet option to residents and businesses in the area who have not had many choices for broadband," stated FastBridge Fiber CEO Eric Warren.
"We welcome the opportunity for the residents and businesses in Berks County to have a new option for broadband services. FastBridge Fiber building infrastructure in our county to bring fiber-optic internet to our community is very exciting," added Christian Leinbach, Berks County Commissioner. Fastbridge Fiber is headquartered in Reading, PA, which is within Berks County. The county is northwest of Philadelphia.
