Dala Energi selects ASR6000 from PacketFront

Dala Energi has selected PacketFront’s Gigabit ASR6000 switch for its next round of network expansion covering more than 1000 users in Dalarna, Sweden.

Dala Energi has selected PacketFront’s Gigabit ASR6000 switch for its next round of FTTH network expansion covering more than 1000 users in Dalarna, Sweden.

Dala Energi already operates an open access broadband network covering the rural towns of Leksand, Rättvik, Gagnef, and Säter in the heart of Sweden. Currently, the network connects over 2000 local businesses and residential customers, and provides infrastructure for several of the municipalities in the region. More than 20 service providers are delivering commercial services over the network.

“A modern infrastructure with high-speed Internet and other communications services being offered to businesses and residential customers is a key factor for rural communities such as ours,” said Pär Wikström, head of urban network for Dala Energi. “The ASR6000 from PacketFront takes us into the Gigabit Age, and enables us to provide the wide selection of high-performance services that our customers are demanding.”

To provide customers with Gigabit Internet, Dala Energi says it simply adds the ASR6000 to the network topology and then connects customers to it. Migrating to the ASR6000 also makes it possible to upgrade the core network to 10 Gbps, the company says.
