8 JANUARY 2009 Axione, a company of Bouygues Construction specializing in the management of local public broadband services for telecom operators and local communities, has selected Alcatel-Lucent (search for Alcatel-Lucent) to provide equipment that will further develop its networks across France. The systems house will provide its Ethernet, IP/MPLS, FTTH technologies as well as professional services including project management, network design, installation, integration, and maintenance, enabling Axione to offer high-speed triple play services in 11 departments and cities across the country through public service outsourcing contracts.
Axione expects to use its upgraded infrastructure to offer communication services such as virtual leased lines and virtual private LAN services to its business customers. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent will deliver FTTH network equipment.

"Alcatel-Lucent's IP/MPLS network allows us to significantly improve operations and meet our growing business needs. As well, their recognized expertise in fiber provides us with efficient access solutions to enhance customer service levels in regional communities."
