SEPTEMBER 3, 2009 -- LG-Nortel (a joint venture of LG Electronics and Nortel) says it will demonstrate technology innovations and announce new collaborations at the Broadband World Forum Europe in Paris, France September 7-9. The focus will be on an enhancement to its WDM-PON offering for FTTH applications.
In particular, LG-Nortel will take the wraps off of Release 4.0 of its Ethernet Access 1100, which uses WDM-PON technology to deliver symmetrical bandwidth up to 1 Gbps to the end user and provides secure access for high performance business, residential, and wireless backhaul applications.
Release 4.0 is designed to give operators the flexibility to mix 1 Gbps and 100 Mbps on the same fiber structure, thus enabling a smooth transition to fiber-based services while maintaining existing revenue streams. It also helps operators serve businesses such as finance, government, and research facilities that need highly secure bandwidth, the company says.
Live demonstrations of WDM-POM access technologies will include 1 Gbps to the home/business showing online gaming, triple play, home PC online data backup, high-definition video surveillance, mobile backhaul, and other business and residential applications.
