Resolute, BroadLight team to enable carrier-grade circuit emulation services over GPON

May 31, 2005 Modi'in, Israel and Mountain View, CA -- Resolute Networks and BroadLight have announced a joint Circuit Emulation Services (CES) platform that the companies say enables Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) equipment manufacturers to incorporate T1/E1 voice, leased line, and frame relay services into FTTP access networks.

May 31, 2005 Modi'in, Israel and Mountain View, CA -- Resolute Networks and BroadLight have announced a joint technology platform that the companies say enables Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) equipment manufacturers to incorporate T1/E1 voice, leased line, and frame relay services into FTTP access networks. According to the companies, the Circuit Emulation Services (CES) platform enables standards-compliant, transparent delivery of TDM services through central office and customer premises GPON equipment.

The joint CES-over-GPON (CESoGPON) platform is based on BroadLight's BL2000 integrated GPON System on Chip and Resolute's standards-based pseudo-wire CES modules. The companies say the platform will enable one to four T1/E1 ports on the optical network termination (ONT) side and circuit emulation aggregation at up to OC-3 rates (155 Mbit/sec) at the optical local termination (OLT) in the central office.

The companies are globally co-marketing the platform to telecommunications system vendors and service providers. The companies estimate that by 2008 the global requirement for T1/E1-based business services over GPON will reach a total of more than 250,000 links.

"CES deployments represent a strong move by telecommunication operators to address small to medium size business clients' demand for cost effective TDM services," contends Gady Vekslar, VP business development at Resolute Networks. "Resolute's pseudo-wire CES technology, combined with BroadLight's leadership in the emerging GPON market, will accelerate the deployment of GPON-based TDM services by the large operators."

"Transport of converged TDM and data traffic significantly reduces OLT and ONT system complexity and cost, and enables rapid deployment of business services," adds Didi Ivancovsky, founder and VP of products at BroadLight.

Both companies' products will be on display at Supercomm 2005.
