17 February 2003 -- FlexLight Networks announced today the conclusion of a lab trial of its Optimate 2500 Gigabit PON (GPON) product at France Telecom's R&D centre in Lannion, France.

"FlexLight's Optimate 2500 has undergone evaluation of its advanced feature set, especially in terms of bandwidth (2.488/1.244 Gbit/s) and other GPON-specific parameters, including BW efficiency, bit rates and TDM support," said Gary Lee, FlexLight's CEO.

"Being the first vendor with a GPON offering, we are proud that our equipment has been successfully tested by such a leading carrier as France Telecom. FlexLight will continue its relationship with FT's R&D centre in order to test future added functionality of FlexLight's gear".

FlexLight unveiled its Optimate product suite at Supercomm in June 2002. The Optimate product line is focused on economically and efficiently provisioning Ethernet and E1/T1 services to businesses located miles off the metro rings in suburban locations.

FlexLight Networks is one of the editors of the new ITU G.984.3, the ITU's standard for GPON, and the first vendor to offer a standards-based GPON solution.
