dsc Communications Corp., Plano, TX, and Monroe, LA-based Century Telephone Enterprises Inc. have signed a multiyear, multimillion dollar agreement to replace network switch and remote-based access lines with dsc`s Litespan-2000 Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier products. The program should allow Century to segment its network into three elements--switch, transport, and access. The agreement enables Century to replace its switch analog line units and remote terminals with the dsc systems to segment the access lines from the switch. As part of the agreement, Century also extended its existing volume purchase agreement, which now runs through 1999.
