Nortel, Brampton, ON, Canada, has signed a memorandum of understanding with MetroNet Communications Corp., Calgary, AB, Canada, to negotiate a contract for US$70 million in switching, transport, and access equipment. Nortel will provide the needed equipment to MetroNet, which plans to create competitive local networks in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Montreal this year.
