Scheduled for completion in 2002, the system will connect Bangladesh and Singapore and will be approximately 3,200 km in length. The supply contract for the project will have an approximate value of $150 million U.S. dollars.

The signing of the agreement on March 20 coincided with President Clinton's mission to Bangladesh. U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary William M.
