The National Fiber Optics Engineers Conference (NFOEC) has issued a call for papers for this year's conference, which will be held August 27 through 31 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Papers will be presented during the technical sessions of the conference and will be published in the conference proceedings in print and on CD-ROM. The conference welcomes submissions in such categories as fiber and cable, components and subsystems, optical networking, network testing, interoperability, and network management, powering, and survivability.

Papers are selected based on the technical quality of advance summaries. Authors must submit a 300-word to 500-word summary describing the proposed paper by February 15, 2000. Summaries will only be accepted via email, accompanied by the submission form at the NFOEC web site (www.nfoec.com). The site also includes specific author guidelines that should be followed. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by April 15. Upon acceptance to the conference, final manuscripts are due by June 15.

This year's NFOEC is sponsored by US West and Telcordia Technologies, and organizers expect the conference to attract more than 4500 attendees and 170 exhibitors.
