Corning Inc. (Corning, NY) announced a series of enhancements to its LEAF non-zero dispersion-shifted, large-effective-area optical fiber. Corning added a long-band specification that operates from 1565 to 1625 nm. In addition, the company announced it will be tightening the dispersion performance distribution on the product and improving the polarization mode-dispersion specification. Corning also tightened LEAF fiber`s specifications for fiber curl and core/cladding concentricity, hoping to lower installation and splicing costs for installers.
