Cleartel Communications (Washington, DC) will provide long-distance telephone service to Quisqueyana USA (New York City) using Internet protocol (IP) over a private packet-switched network on a commercial trial basis. Initially, the trial will involve two Quisqueyana branch office calling centers in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. ClearTel, which operates a facilities-based fiber-optic network, believes industry analysis shows emerging voice-over-IP and packet-switched voice services will have a major impact in the telecommunications and Internet industries. Quisqueyana is a provider of wire transfer, telecommunications, courier, and travel services between the U.S. and Latin America.
