Alcatel USA (Dallas, TX) announced that MCI Communications (Washington, DC) has standardized the Litespan-2000 for inclusion in the MCI network. Litespan is a sonet-based access platform that supports fiber-to-the-curb as well as digital subscriber line applications. MCI plans to use Litespan as one of its access vehicles placed in co-location sites. Alcatel USA also signed an agreement with Business Telecom Inc. (Raleigh, NC) for delivery and deployment of its Litespan-2012 advanced access system.
