British Telecom (London) unveiled plans to spend $1.3 billion on expanding and enlarging its U.K. network. The bulk of the investment is for upgrading infrastructure to meet the growing demand for Internet and multimedia telephony technology. This will include expansion of British Telecom`s sdh fiber-optic transmission network and deploying new technologies, including dense wavelength-division multiplexing (dwdm).
