Metromedia Fiber Network, New York City, has signed a five-year contract with Bankers Trust to provide a dark fiber-optic telecommunications network connecting several Bankers Trust locations in the New York metropolitan area. According to Metromedia, the network will enhance Bankers Trust`s internal communications network by providing building-to-building connectivity with unlimited capacity to meet broadband data requirements. Metromedia`s private fiber-optic network consists of up to 432 strands of fiber in each cable and is capable of supporting sonet, dense wavelength-division multiplexing, atm, and Gigabit Ethernet.
