Optical-fiber tester

The WG Fiber FOX (Fiber Optic Xpert) is an OTDR with a "qualification" mode that displays the quality of a fiber link. The device compares measurement results with specified limits at a keypress and offers a pass/fail assessment for the overall link. All of the values in a standard test specification can be stored as limits, such as splice and connector losses and reflections. The OTDR is available for multimode fibers (850/1300 nm), singlemode fibers (1310/1550 nm), and in-service measurements (1625 nm), with different dynamic ranges for short to ultralong path lengths. The housing contains a Pentium processor, a TFT color touchscreen, and a PC card slot for remote operation via LAN, WAN, or the Internet.
