Telekom Malaysia Berhad will provide the fiber-optic backbone to Malaysia`s new governmental seat in Putrajaya, which is within the country`s Multimedia Super Corridor (msc). The atm-based backbone will have a main trunk with a capacity of 2.5 Gbits/sec, which could be upgraded to 10 Gbits/sec. Telekom Malaysia plans to design a network that uses international transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (tcp/ip) and that can support automated information network telephones and enhanced services, cable TV, video-on-demand, data communications, msc applications, and teleport services. The network is scheduled for completion before the Prime Minister`s Office moves into the msc at year-end.
