    Teleport Communications Group Inc. (tcg), Staten Island, NY, plans to buy the assets and customer base of Kansas City Fiber Network LP (KC FiberNet), Kansas City, KS. KC FiberNet, owned by Tele-Communications Inc. and Time Warner Communications, is a competitive local exchange carrier in the Kansas City metropolitan area. KC FiberNet currently operates a fiber-optic network over 580 route-mi in Kansas and Missouri. With the addition of KC FiberNet, tcg asserts its national footprint will total 66 major markets.
