dsc Communications Corp., Plano, TX, and Efficient Networks Inc., Dallas, TX, have joined to offer asymmetric digital subscriber line (adsl) service providers with an end-to-end solution for deploying atm-based digital subscriber line services. Under the terms of the agreement, dsc will use Efficient Networks` SpeedStream 3030 adsl PC adapter as a customer premises equipment solution to complement its Litespan Optical Loop Carrier. The Litespan Optical Loop Carrier is a sonet-based GR-303 digital loop carrier, and the SpeedStream 3030 is a protocol control information bus adapter that transmits data as atm cells over adsl subscriber lines.
