Polarization-maintaining fiber patch cords

Services for terminating polarization-maintaining fibers with commercially available connectors use stress-free epoxies and specialized termination techniques and achieve polarization extinction ratios of 25 dB. The company uses its own polarization-maintaining connectors for fibers with 80- and 125-micron cladding diameters to achieve typical connector losses of 0.6 dB. Patch cords with keyed connectors can be prealigned for optimum coupling efficiency and extinction ratio, then referenced against the connector key, ensuring good repeatability.
