15 October 2003 Calabasas, CA Lightwave -- E2O Communications Inc. today announced the volume shipment availability of its Small Form Factor (SFF) and Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) singlemode transceiver product family of 1310-nm and 1550-nm components supporting LAN, SAN, access, and metro complying to Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, and SONET standards.

15 October 2003 Calabasas, CA Lightwave -- E2O Communications Inc. today announced the volume shipment availability of its Small Form Factor (SFF) and Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) singlemode transceiver product family of 1310-nm and 1550-nm components supporting LAN, SAN, access, and metro complying to Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, and SONET standards. These new products range in speed from 125 Mbits/sec to 2488 Mbits/sec and support distances from 10 to 80 km with features including digital diagnostics and multi-rate operation. A CWDM option is available for all data rates.

E2O's small form factor fixed and pluggable singlemode family of transceivers complements the company's VCSEL-based multimode transceiver family, which
includes SFF and SFP with either LC connectors or MT-RJ connectors.

"E2O is excited to offer this complete line of singlemode transceivers that will enable our customers to employ longer-reach applications," contends H.C. Lee, president and chief executive officer of E2O Communications. "We strive to bring our customers the highest value components that are competitive in price and that cover a broader range of applications."

E2O's singlemode family of transceivers is based on its internally designed transmitter and receiver optical subassemblies with LC connectors. The transmitter employs a 1310-nm FP laser, a 1310-nm DFB laser, or a 1550-nm DFB laser while the receiver employs a
PIN or an APD. The optical isolator and laser welding technology ensure the superior performances of E2O's products across an entire operation temperature range from ¿40 ° C to 85 ° C, say company representatives. The products include singlemode
EFM, GE, FC, and 2xFC transceivers to support distances from 10 km to 80 km; and OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 transceivers with various reaches at SR1, IR1, IR2, LR1 and LR2.

The MSA-compliant products also include Digital Diagnostics functionality to help
monitor the performance of the transceivers.
