25 February 2003 -- Band-X, London, the bandwidth exchange, today announced that NTT Europe has joined a growing portfolio of IP backbones as suppliers to the Band-X IP Transit Exchange.
NTT Europe joins service providers connected to the exchange including Colt, France Telecom, Level 3, Reach, Sprint and Telia.
Band-X IP says its Transit Exchange takes the guesswork out of finding quality IP transit by providing independently monitored network performance metrics on all suppliers along with wholesale pricing. "The ability to change from one supplier to another during the course of a contract gives buyers maximum flexibility," the company claims.
Stephen Beynon, Band-X's CEO, said, "The addition of this world class backbone to our IP Transit Exchange increases choice of quality and price for our buyers. NTT Europe offers IP transit that is particularly strong to the US and Asia-Pacific regions across their global tier 1 backbone autonomous system, allowing customers to fill in the gaps in their Internet access requirements."
"In addition, via the newly launched Band-X Telecoms Trading Exchange in Edinburgh, wholesale buyers in Scotland gain access to another leading IP provider."
NTT Europe has connected its network to the exchange using Ethernet with 1Gbit/s of capacity available. This recent connection brings the total amount of capacity available via the exchange to over 14Gbit/s from 14 networks.
