Storm Telecommunications announces Gigabit Ethernet in optical MANs

Sept. 19, 2001
Sept. 19, 2001--Storm Telecommunications announced the provision of Gigabit Ethernet links in its metropolitan rings.

Storm Telecommunications announced the provision of Gigabit Ethernet links in its metropolitan rings. The company claims it is the only communications provider able to offer businesses in Europe, including divisions of multinational corporations, a high speed, optical Gigabit Ethernet network that operates across wide area and metropolitan links. Storm's optical Gigabit Ethernet service is currently running on metropolitan rings in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Frankfurt.

By offering Gigabit Ethernet in the metro area, Storm provides a network management solution that enables businesses to seamlessly extend local area networks (LANs) into wide area networks (WANs) because both can now run on the same Ethernet transport protocol.
