OnFiber Communications launches broadband connectivity services in Houston

Sept. 26, 2001
Sept. 26, 2001--OnFiber Communications, a provider of fiber optic networks in metropolitan areas, announced that its suite of high-speed optical services is now available in Greenspoint, an emerging technology center in North Houston.

OnFiber Communications, a provider of fiber optic networks in metropolitan areas, announced that its suite of high-speed optical services is now available in Greenspoint, an emerging technology center in North Houston. Utilizing its unique HomeRun Fiber architecture, OnFiber offers SONET, Gigabit Ethernet and Optical Wavelength services to over 120 office buildings in the Greenspoint area. In addition to Houston, OnFiber currently owns and operates networks in the San Jose/Bay Area, Seattle, Dallas and Philadelphia.

OnFiber has initially deployed its networks to specific multi-tenant buildings and collocation facilities, ensuring a fast, reliable fiber optic network for its customers. OnFiber's network footprint in Greenspoint runs within approximately one hundred feet of more than 1,200 tenants occupying 120 buildings, and serves most of the major telecommunications carriers.

OnFiber has already begun connecting customers in Greenspoint. One early customer is Alpha Internet, a growing ISP in Texas, serving customers in the Greater Dallas and Houston metro areas. OnFiber's network architecture allows the provisioning of services from enterprises to service providers in a matter of weeks as opposed to months.

OnFiber has taken the step of designing and constructing its own metro access "last mile" fiber optic networks. In metropolitan areas throughout the U.S., OnFiber is deploying its HomeRun Fiber architecture to create a metro access design that is far superior to existing networks. The networks' dedicated connections allow each user to obtain multiple products from any of the service providers that utilize OnFiber's network. OnFiber offers a superior solution over other metro access providers by providing an advanced, all optical network, open to broadband service providers.
