PricewaterhouseCoopers chooses Foundry Networks' enterprise LAN switching solutions to build network infrastructure

Oct. 18, 2001
Oct. 18, 2001--Foundry Networks, Inc., a solutions provider of end-to-end switching and routing, announced that PricewaterhouseCoopers, a professional services organization, has chosen Foundry to build a network infrastructure.

Foundry Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a solutions provider of end-to-end switching and routing, announced that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a professional services organization, has chosen Foundry's BigIron 15000 Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 switches, FastIron Layer 2/3 switches and IronView Network Management solution to build a network infrastructure in January 2002 for its new Auckland site.

The existing PricewaterhouseCoopers network infrastructure consists of both Ethernet and legacy-based Token Ring technologies. The new network will consist of Foundry's BigIron Layer 3 switches in the core delivering wire-speed, non-blocking performance with superior availability and reliability. The BigIron switches deliver Gigabit Ethernet-over-Copper connections to both network servers and selected high-power users. Foundry's IronView Network Manager will allow PricewaterhouseCoopers' networks operators to track and perform configuration changes and software updates, and identify and resolve network failures. In addition, the FastIron 4802 Layer 2/3 wiring closet switches, based on Foundry's new 3rd generation JetCore ASIC, enables PwC to take advantage of Foundry's superior Quality of Service (QoS) and rate-limiting functionality, future proofing for next-generation applications such as VOIP and Video conferencing services.
